WASHINGTON GLORY
QB(3): Kyle Allen, Lindsey Scott, Bailey Zappe
MISSED CUT: none
Life comes at you fast: three years ago Allen was thought to be Washington's long-term solution at QB, now, especially with Reggie Barlow replacing Pep Hamilton, this is expected to be Allen's last year in DC before Zappe takes over in 2025.
RB(4): Snoop Conner, Kevin Harris, Derek Watt, Jonathan Williams (Kalen Ballage to IR)
MISSED CUT: Camryn Harris, Mohamed Ibrahim
With Ballage still recovering from last season's torn achilles (a big reason for Washington's second-half fade) he'll start on IR and Barlow will get a look at last year's season-ending group--sans Jacques Patrick who went to Dallas and plus Watt as the Glory return a fullback for the first time since Aaron Ripkowski left.
WR(6): Jason Brownlee, C.J. Johnson, Ty Scott, Ihmir Smith-Marsette, Willie Snead, Cedric Tillman
MISSED CUT: Dez Fitzpatrick, Nyqwan Murray, Preston Williams, Michael Young
Barlow is definitely filling the room with his own guys--Snead, Smith-Marsette, and four rookies, but will he regret not bringing back Jakobi Meyers?
TE(3): Michael Mayer, Stephen Sullivan, Jaden Wydermyer
MISSED CUT: Tyree Jackson
Time runs out for Jackson, who hasn't played in a game since June 2022 due to various injuries--including an ACL tear that cost him last season, as Sullivan takes the last spot at TE over him.
OL(10): Nick Allegretti, Austin Deculus, Nash Jensen, Tommy Kraemer, Jalen Mayfield, Chris Paul, Scott Quessenberry, Trey Smith, Ryan Van Demark, Carter Warren
MISSED CUT: Matt Carrick, Jamil Demby, Warren Ericson, Liam Fornadel, Jack Plumb
Van Demark, who saw action in both Chicago games, both as a sixth lineman and as an injury replacement, will carve out a spot in the final rotation while the Glory will hope to bring at least two of their cuts--namely Fornadel--back to the practice squad.
DL(7): Abdullah Anderson, Christian Barmore, Jalyn Holmes, Maurice Hurst, Grady Jarrett, Daviyon Nixon, Sam Williams
MISSED CUT: D.J. Dale
Gregg Williams' new defensive alignment will feature more nickel and alternating three and four-man fronts, which will fit the direction that his predecessor Louie Cioffi had begun to lean in over the last two years.
LB(7): Malik Harrison, DeMarquis Gates, Chazz Surratt, Jose Ramirez, Terence Garvin, Cameron Goode, Josh Ross
MISSED CUT: Andre Mintze, James Skalski
Ramirez is listed at LB and will get plenty of use as a nickel rusher. Mintze and Skalski will make spirited charges at making the roster but the Glory will keep Goode and Ross for special teams work.
DB(10): Anthony Averett, Cameron Brown, Amani Hooker, Isaiah Johnson, Marcus Jones, Michael Joseph, Jayron Kearse, Kaleb Oliver, Bentlee Sanders, Christopher Smith
MISSED CUT: Gareon Conley, Trevon Fuller, Cameron Lewis, J.R. Reed, K.J. Sails, Kary Vincent
Conley was an OSU star and a first round NFL draft pick in 2017 yet that couldn't land him a spot in Columbus last year, he'll have a better go-round this year but ironically it's another ex-Buckeye, Brown, who keeps him off the team. Barlow talked in the offseason about a veteran secondary but this group has four rookies (Brown, Oliver, Sanders, and Smith).
ST(3): Dominik Eberle, Reid Ferguson, Daniel Whelan
MISSED CUT: none
The Glory made the unprecedented move of replacing both their kicker and punter during the season and having it work out as well as it did. Eberle was nearly perfect, hitting his last 17 field goal attempts and Whelan put nearly a quarter of his punts (8 of 33) inside the 20. Ferguson, one of the best long snappers in the league, is the common denominator.
