Boone NC- The Carolina Colonels continued practice on Tuesday with two sessions. Players put on pads for the first time, and once again the practice was closed to any outsiders. As on Sunday, several coaches and players met with local and state media to answer questions. The following is a breakdown of practice with the offense and defense meeting with the media seperatly.
Offense- The offense once again worked on installing the playbook, and for the most part every play has at lease been introduced to the players. The 7 on 7 passing drills was the highlight of the practice, with the offense moving pretty smoothly. "I was very happy with the offensive excecution today, especially with the route running by our recievers", quoted Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Norm Chow. When asked how things went today, star Wide Reciever Terrance Edwards replied, " It was a great day, Kyle was hitting just about every target, and we were able to keep the offense moving."
Defense- While the offense was very happy with their play in the 7 on 7 drills, the defense had quite the opposite reaction. Defensive Coordinator Ray Agnew said, " The guys just looked a step slow today, I'm not sure what it is, maybe this high altitidue, I dont know, but whatever it is we will fix it." New Cornerback Brian Williams did supply the highlight for the defense, as he intercepted a Kyle Orton pass, and knocked down several others.
The Colonels will try to practice today (Wednesday), but with weather reports calling for rain, it may just be meetings and weightlifiting, with a possible practice at one of Appalachian State's local gyms. The Colonels have scheduled a scrimmage for Staturday at 2, and it will be open to the public. This will be the first time that a practice will be seen by any outsiders, as Coach Norm Chow has kept practice on lockdown so far.
