Coach of the Year-Donnie Henderson KC. The Monarchs rebounded after a three-of-four mini-slump to win their final two games and clinch their first playoff berth in team history, after going 3-21 in their first two years. The Monarchs were also 3-3 on the road after going 0-for-their first two seasons away from Arrowhead Stadium.
Runners-up-Don Matthews MEM, Mike Jones ORL
Offensive Player of the Year-Eric Shelton MEM. After leading the league in rushing as a rookie in 2005, Shelton was supposed to regress a little after all-XFL left guard Melvin Paige was lost to Chicago in free agency and journeyman Tyson Walter stepped in to his spot. Instead Shelton merely kicked it into overdrive, rushing for 1237 yards to lead the league again and five touchdowns and helping the Maniax to their first division title.
Runners-up: Anthony Calvillo KC, Bart Hendricks MEM
Defensive Player of the Year-Lonnie Ford LA. In addition to co-leading the league with 14 sacks Ford and his bookend partner Tim Cheatwood had 23 sacks, tops among DE duos in the league. Ford also drives (no pun intended) the Xtreme's defensive line power, he was also second in the league with 18 QB hurries.
Runners-up: Alge Atkinson SF, Rien Long LV
Special Teams Player of the Year-Kris Stockton LV. Stockton, who once again was the league's scoring leader, was the point man when the Outlaws had problems inside the 30. His 39 field goal attempts were the most in the league since Andy Crosland with Chicago in 2002 (44). He made 34, which was also the most in the league since Crosland in '02 (38). He also led the league in field goals over 40 yards (16) and over 50 (4--second to Todd Sievers' record six in 2003 with Birmingham)
Runners-up: Troy Mason LV, Lamont Brightful BIR
Offensive Rookie of the Year-Joseph Addai JAC. Addai finished fifth in the league in rushing with 765 yards and four touchdowns, sporting a 4.7 yards per carry average. Addai also caught 28 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown. The Rage, who picked him in the first round but sent him to their Floridian rivals after the two sides couldn't reach an agreement, could probably have used him as they struggled through a RB-by-committee experiment all season that included the befallen Maurice Clarett.
Runners-up: Sinorice Moss BIR LenDale White KC
Defensive Rookie Of The Year-Freddie Keiaho SF. The Demons were coming off losing Trev Faulk as a free agent and were looking at Matt McCoy as the weak-side starter, figuring Keiaho, another ex-Aztec, would be a good backup. Instead Keiaho had an excellent preseason and took over at strong side with Alge Atkinson out for the first two games. He returned to his weak side position and started the rest of the way, finishing with a co-league-leading 14 sacks, becoming the first rookie to finish atop the league in that category since Omari Hand in 2003 with Chicago.
Runners-up: Daniel Bullocks KC, Devan Long LV
Special Teams Rookie of the Year-Devin Hester KC. Hester led the league in punt returns with a wowing 18.4 yard average, breaking the mark held by Stepfret Williams with the Glory in 2004 (18.2). Better yet Hester's exploits improved a punt return game that were the worst in the league in 2005.
Runners-up: Josh Huston ORL, John Torp DAL
