Kansas City (AP) -- Chris Brown has arrived in KC with some lofty ambitions in mind.
But the newly signed Monarchs tailback prefers to keep his rushing goals private, at least for now.
I'll let it out soon," Brown said with a smile. "I want to put up numbers like the big-name backs in the 'X'. It all depends on how L-Train and I are used, but I think the two of us will do some damage."
Brown, who signed a two-year deal with KC on Sunday is setting the bar high. He believes that a title is within reach, perhaps this year.
"My main thing is coming in ready to do my part and get us to the next level," Brown said. "It's a challenge knowing that we are no longer push-overs, but legit threats. I see no reason why this team can't contend for the 'X' title right now, or I wouldn't be here."
Henry was in town with new RT Marc Colombo for a meet-and-greet Monday afternoon. Colombo recently signed a five-year deal that includes $2 million in guaranteed money.
Brown and Colombo weren't the only moves KC made in the offseason. The Monarchs picked up FA kicker Mike Vanderjagt, FA punter Todd Sauerbrun, and defensive lineman Aubreyo Franklin from the League. Those players were not in attendance Monday.
"The club has been extremely busy over the last few weeks in trying to improve this football team going into 2007," Monarchs owner/GM Sean Calliard said. "We're going to use every avenue we can to improve."
The Monarchs won the season finale against Los Angeles last season, making the playoffs as a wild-card and snapped a three-year string of futility.
Brown said KC's offensive system is made for him.
"I can break a lot of tackles," he said. "I run up in there and can get out of certain things that most backs can't. I just run hard the whole game. Between me and Lendale, with this scheme, it's going to fit real well."
