May 25, 2005 --The annual celebration known as “Pride Day” that has marked the start of football season in Kansas City has been extended to include Wednesday through Friday, May 25 - 27th. The Monarchs open the home portion of their season, Sunday, May 29, at 4pm against the Orlando Rage.
The weekend kicks off Wednesday night when Pete’s Inn, located north of the river, hosts the Ted Cotrell Show, to be heard on KCFX-FM (101 the Fox) between 7-8 PM.
On Friday, all Monarchs fans are encouraged to show their team spirit by wearing anything and everything gold on Pride Day and every Friday before a Monarchs football game. Friday’s festivities include the sale of the Monarchs Preview, a special edition of Sun Publications, on street corners around the Metro area. The Kansas City Sports Commissions hosts the annual Red Friday Luncheon at the Pavilion at Arrowhead at 12:00 noon.
Fans young and old will enjoy the Pep Rally outside Arrowhead Stadium. New elements to this year’s festivities include a tailgate competition on Friday and the Arrowhead Fan Fest sponsored by PremierSingles.com. The Arrowhead Fan Fest begins at 5:00 pm on Thursday and will run until 11:00 pm with a break for the Pep Rally. The Fan Fest will continue on Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and will be followed by a concert at 8:00pm featuring hip-hop recording artist Nelly. During the Arrowhead Fan Fest, the parking lots will be alive with live bands, craft booths and concessions. Tickets for the concert available at TicketMaster outlets.
Fans of the Monarchs will have an opportunity to see a preview of this year’s team on Friday, May 27 at Arrowhead Stadium.
Admission and parking are Free and seating is general admission.

Stadium gates will open at 11 a.m. with "meet-and-greet" from 12 noon – 3 p.m.

The first 2,000 patrons will receive free tickets to the June 7th WWE SMACKDOWN Live show and must be in attendance to receive it. A voucher is being mailed to all season ticket holders.
