1. San Francisco(6-1): Because the Demons need another weapon; leading the league in rushing touchdowns? Hunter Luepke.
2. Carolina(5-2): Skepticism was warranted after back-to-back weeks of the Bolts and a Nathan Peterman-led Sharks, but after a season-high in yards and points (allowing Kyle Trask to take an early night) it might just be time to acknowledge them--like a onetime Colonels undrafted free agent.
3. Kansas City(5-2): While no one in the league knows how to scheme against the Monarchs like the Ryan brothers (who have now held the Monarchs to what they occasionally have at halftime in their last two meetings) it doesn't make the champs feel any better, although Kareem Hunt making his 2024 debut will.
4. Los Angeles(4-3): Sure, it took the second-worst rated pass defense in the league to finally get Desmond Ridder going vertically, but you take 'em where you get 'em, especially if the Xtreme run off another seven-gamer like they started last year at this point.
5. Columbus(5-2): The Capitols held serve with four of five home games, now they get to return the favor with four of five on the road (but their bye will break it up).
6. Chicago(4-3): In their first seven games the Enforcers have already been through a ringer of schedule, playing 1-2-and-3 (even winning two). But Rex Ryan's mindset is they haven't done anything yet, especially when there's still a number in the games back column.
7. San Antonio(4-3): With three Stampede comebacks and an Arena football-like back-and-forth, you can't say Alamodome patrons aren't getting their money's worth.
8. Orlando(3-4): Given the Monarchs' mood coming in it'll be an all-hands situation for the Rage, unfortunately it looks like they'll be without one of those hands (Jalen Tolbert) in a game they need.
9. Washington(3-4): Plenty to be said about the defense, sure, but the Glory's 59-point explosion against Columbus looks like an aberration, seeing that's five points more than they've scored in their four losses combined.
10. St. Louis(3-4): While the Stallions are done on the west coast for the year their last four away from the Dome? Kansas City, Columbus, Chicago, and San Antonio (a combined 14-1 at home), 0-8 is possible.
11. New York(3-4): Birmingham debacle aside Ron Rivera has done a really solid job after losing J.K. Dobbins and C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and if he can get the Hitmen to .500 going into their bye week, a run at the wildcard isn't out of the question.
12. Seattle(2-5): The bye week comes just as Brian Hoyer had a much-needed bounceback and the Reign are managing Chase Brown--whose workload has incrementally decrased since a season-high 26 carries (for 196 yards) in Columbus.
13. San Diego(3-4): It's kind of hard to enjoy the ride when you get rode on.
14. Dallas(3-4): The Lonestars' bye week could be an extra long one for Bob Stoops.
15. Tampa Bay(2-5): The Sharks will have to get some of their younger backs to step up with Jordan Howard possibly showing signs of wear (3.2 YPC, 0 TD) the last three games.
16. Birmingham(1-6): Taylor Heinicke? A.J. McCarron? Malik Cunningham? Chris Oladokun? Bo Nix? At this point, what difference does it make?
