The Dallas Vipers are hoping a the rub of a national title run will rub off on an underacheiving team the last two seasons--going 7-5 and 5-7. Today the Vipers introduced University of Texas defensive coordinator Gene Chizik as their head coach.
Chizik has spent the last 19 years as a defensive assistant at the college level, getting his first job as a defensive coordinator in the state of Texas at 1-AA Stephen F. Austin, where one of his standout players was Kansas City Monarchs inside linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.
He's also been a defensive coordinator at Central Florida and Auburn. at Auburn one of his pupils was Vipers backup safety Junior Rosegreen.
Also, Major Applewhite will join the Vipers as their new offensive coordinator. A defensive coordinator will be named later.
