The XFL Blitz shows on Saturday evenings on USA Networkat 7:00pm….
DISCLAIMER: XFL4EVER IS A SIMULATED FOOTBALL LEAGUE, NOT AN ACTUAL ONE (UNFORTUNATELY). SO ALL THE EVENTS OF THE LEAGUE ARE FICTIONAL. OF COURSE IT WOULD BE PRETTY NEAT IF THEY WERE REAL.

Chris: Hi, everyone, I'm Chris Myers, joined by Sterling Sharpe and "The Coach" Jerry Glanville along with special reporter Stacy Keibler and welcome to a new season of XFL football here on our new network - USA. Well fellas, a new season is underway and we have lots to talk about. Coach, Sterling, what can we look for this coming season?
Sterling: We've got five new head coaches in the league this season. That means that over a quater of the league has new leadership. Gentlemen, playtime is over as of today. It's time to see what these guys are made of.
Jerry: I'm looking at the new talent in the league. LenDale White, Marcus Vick, DeAngelo Williams, Santonio Holmes, Maurice Drew, and Joseph Addai, and all that is just on the offensive side of the ball! I haven't even gotten to the defensive side yet....
Chris: Thanks guys. Also, we'll be taking a look at tonight's action featuring the LA Extreme against the XFL champion Las Vegas Outlaws, news from around the league, Stacy’s interview with DeAngelo Williams plus previews of someof Sunday's games. We’ll be right back after a word from our sponsor. This is the XFL on USA.

Chris: Hi everyone and welcome back to the XFL Blitz studio on USA. Lendale White has been the subject of a lot of talk both during and after the draft. But there's another back drafted third overall who's trying to spark his club. DeAngelo Williams was thought to have come out last year, but chose not to. Now he does and Pittsburgh hopes that he can help dim the memory of another draft pick - Maurice Clarett. As we told you before, we are pleased to welcome Stacy Keibler to the broadcast team and here she is now. Take it away Stacy...
Stacy: Thanks, guys. DeAngelo, welcome to the show ....
Williams: Good to be here, Stacy.
Stacy: If you had chosen to come out last year, most experts had you as the the number one overall pick. How does it feel being drafted third overall by the Ironmen?
Williams: I can't control what happened before. I wasn't really worried about it. If I had gone number one overall, I would still use that as a motivational tool. I use everything to motivate myself to get the job done. I'm here in the XFL now, and I'm so excited, having an opportunity to play behind that big offensive line. I know that this is an offense that establishes the run. They have a good young quarterback in Jason Fife. They have outstanding receivers in Johnnie Morant and Kelly Campbell. Coach Moore has a great track record as an offensive genius, so I'm expecting great things for them and for me. This is beautiful. This is the best place I could be. The reason I say that is that I just left an offense that was a spread offense but they changed it because of the quarterbacks we lost, so it became almost identical to the Ironmen offense because we were a run first oriented team and a run-second oriented team. Pittsburgh still has the option to pass the ball, though, because of those weapons I just mentioned.
Stacy: Do you thnk there will be a problem learning the new system?
Williams: I don't think it will be a problem at all. To each his own, and by that I mean we are running backs with different styles. I saw Tony Fisher play his college ball at Notre Dame. He's a big bruiser. Me, I'm able to make guys miss. I'm glad to be a Pittsburgh Ironmen. I love their colors. I love where they're located. I'm just excited. If you can't tell that from my voice, you can't tell anything about any player ever.
Stacy: Which player in the league would you compare yourself to?
Williams: I wouldn't compare myself to any back, but if I had to I would go with LaDainian Tomlinson. Guys like Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders - those are phenomenal players who wrote their names in the record books. They're Hall of Fame running backs. LaDainian Tomlinson, some day he's going to be a Hall of Famer as well. But I don't want to put my name with those Hall of Fame guys because I have yet to prove myself in the pros. My best asset would be my quickness. I'm going to definitely be going on my quickness because I didn't realize how quick I was until they actually put a clock on my quickness and told me I set records and things like that. A lot of people criticized me and said I didn't have the breakaway speed like all the other running backs in the NFL, but if you look at my 40 time my last 30 yards were a lot faster than my first 10 yards. The longer I run the faster I get.
Stacy: What goals do you have?
Williams: My heart was going a million miles on draft day. It's going a thousand miles an hour right now. You really don't understand how excited I am to play for the Pittsburgh Ironmen. I'm going to put my heart and soul into this program and hopefully we'll come out on top. We'll have more wins than losses at the end of the season and go to the playoffs and let the chips fall where they may. The glory days of Pttsburgh are coming, folks, count on it.
Stacy: Thanks for being here, DeAngelo, and good luck this season.
Williams: My pleasure.
Stacy: Guys, back to you in the studio.
Chris: Thanks Stacy. We’ll be right after a word from our sponsor. This is the XFL on USA.

Chris: Hi everyone and welcome back to XFL Blitz on USA. I’m Chris Myers in the studio with Sterling Sharpe, and Jerry Glanville. We'll start off with news from around the league with our XFL Livewire. Bart Hubbuch, of the Florida Times-Union, reports Los Angeles Extreme RB Maurice Drew surrendered Friday, May 19, after being charged with felony assault. He was released on $30,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned June 16. Drew faced probation or two to four years in state prison if he is convicted. Drew's agent and attorney, Adisa Bakari, said he had not seen the lawsuit but considers it without merit. He added the would most likely file a countersuit accusing the alleged assault victim, Sabzi Soroush, of a frivolous claim. Vince Ketterman, of losangelesxtreme.com, reports that head coach Bob Toledo shared his position on RB Maurice Drew's arrest. Toledo said, "On the Maurice Drew situation, I was aware of the incident before the draft. The facts, in the end, will prevail. I would just ask that you allow the process to unfold." Drew was arrested last week for an incident that resulted in the alleged assault of a man.
Also on the Livewire Josh Bendix, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Dallas Vipers rookie WR Santonio Holmes has given his account of his arrest in Charlotte, North Carolina. Holmes said Saturday night, May 27, that he was on his way from a bar/restaurant in downtown Charlotte early Saturday and stepped off the sidewalk to avoid a gathering of people. A police officer yelled at him, Holmes said. A report written by the arresting officer said Holmes was obstructing traffic. Holmes said he asked the officer why he yelled at him, and he was immediately placed under arrest. The police report said Holmes was not cooperative with police after being warned to get off of the street on Collins Avenue. "I observed the defendant walking in the middle of the road obstructing traffic. I gave the defendant a verbal order to get out of the street and the defendant began to say several offensive words and he refused to get out of the street. The defendant's actions caused a crowd to form and traffic to come to a stop. Defendant arrested." A date for Holmes to appear in court for his arraignment has not been set.
Also, Monarchs.com reports Kansas City head coach Donnie Henderson was asked about the injury progress of RB LenDale White (hamstring) and he replied: " His progress is increasing and we hope to have him on the field against Detroit. These things take time and we will not rush him back. We have invested a lot of money and time in him, so we will take it slowly. Hopefully we will get LenDale (White) up to full speed in June. He won't be full-speed now obviously, but we will get him out." And that's the XFL Livewire for this week.
It’s the opening week of the XFL 2006 season and we’ll get right to some of this weekend’s games, so Sterling? Start us off – Los Angeles at the champs.
Sterling: The Extreme come into this game with a 2-1 preseason mark.LA has always had a high-powered air-it-out offense, whereas the Outlaws have been known for their D. Both QB's are among the best in the league. My real question going into this game is: with running back is going to step-up for his team today. Mitchell, McCullough, or could we see local product Maurice Drew make some noise after a not so pleasant preseason. Las Vegas has the bulls-eye on their backs this season, season LA knows all about. I expect this to be a close game with champs to pull it out at the end.
Chris: We’ll be right back after we pay some bills. This is the XFL on USA.
((XFL Blitz logo Fade out, cut to commercial))
Chris: Welcome back. Before we go, it’s “Battle for the Belt.” time. LT was the runaway winner last season with a gaudy 10-2 record. New year, fellas. Let the chase begin. So what’s your “Lock of the Week?”
Sterling: I'm calling the upset special right now - Rage over Enforcers. Jerry: I pick the Monarchs to start the year right and knock off the Mustangs. Chris: And I have the Outlaws taking down the Extreme. That’s all the time we have for this week, folks. This is Chris Myers with Sterling Sharpe, Jerry Glanville, and Stacy Keibler. From all of us in the studio to all of you at home, enjoy the games everybody. Don't forget the wrap-up show This has been the XFL Blitz on USA.
