Same thing, this time with the 2004 collection of talent
1. Kansas City-Mike Williams, WR, USC: Took home XFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors with 66 catches in 2004. Numbers are down since, but this year it won't matter if the Monarchs can keep the momentum of their 4-1 start going.
2. Dallas (From Detroit through Birmingham)-Rashaun Woods, WR, Oklahoma State: First of three straight first round picks on a wide receiver, Woods had 61 catches and four TDs as a rookie, then finished tied with Jeremaine Copeland for the league lead with 82 grabs (and 7 TDs).
3. Carolina-Jerricho Cotchery, WR, North Carolina State: Forms a deadly WR trio along with Terrence Edwards and Jason Geathers. Now if only Colonels could find a reliable QB.
4. Seattle-Tatum Bell, RB, Oklahoma State: The less said, the better. Rushed for five TDs as a rookie, but also a miserable 204 yards on 82 carries (2.5 avg), including a 13 carry, -5 yard effort against Washington. Was off to another miserable start in 2006 before being benched for J.J. Arrington.
5. Pittsburgh-Keyaron Fox, LB, Georgia Tech: Finally claimed starting job prior to 2006 season and has developed like the Ironmen thought he would, too bad with the Ironmen so bad this year no one's noticing.
6. Memphis-Cedric Cobbs, RB, Arkansas: Traded to Birmingham in 2005 and has become a solid counterpart to Tony Hollings, sort of a 'Thunder and Lightning' combo if you will.
7. Los Angeles-Will Poole, CB, USC: Solid rookie year as Xtreme's nickel back in 2004. Injuries have held him to two games since, including missing the entire '05 season with an ACL tear.
8. Detroit-Darrion Scott, DE, Ohio State: First of three straight first-round defensive linemen from the Big Ten. Mustangs tinkering with moving him inside because of his run-stuffing ability (has five stuffs this year).
9. Washington-Max Starks, OT, Florida: Glory originally wanted Bell and had to "settle" for man-beast from Florida. Pretty good trade-off eh?
10. Memphis (from New York)-Cols Colas, LB-DE, Virginia Tech: Caspor Stiles' trade gave Maniax the Hitmen's first pick. Played some rush end early on but has settled in as an all-XFL LB.
11. Las Vegas-Dave Ball, DE, UCLA: Filled in for injured Kelvin Kinney nicely in 2005 but has been mostly a top reserve DE other than that.
12. San Francisco-Randy Starks, DT, Maryland: Anchored a strong rush defense that gave up just two rushing TDs in '05.
13. Jacksonville-Carlos Joseph, OT, Miami(FL): Solid right tackle is only member of offensive line that has maintained his spot since 2004 amidst line instability.
14. Orlando-Brian Rimpf, OT, East Carolina: Lined up early in his collegiate career against NFL stalwarts Dwight Freeney and Julius Peppers, which helped him excel at the collegiate level and onto the Rage, where Rimpf and Scott Kempenich are arguably the finest tackle tandem in the league.
15. Dallas-Jarrett Payton, RB, Miami(FL): Had strong rookie campaign but followed that up with mediocre start in 2005 before he injured his knee and was then dealt to Washington, where he hasn't become the feature back the Glory were looking for.
16. Chicago: Matt Ware, DB, UCLA: Currently the third safety behind starters Will Allen and Bobby Jackson, but has a shot at being the starter in 2007 should the Enforcers as expected elect not to re-sign Jackson.
