Can you believe it? We are now one-third gone through the season and the contenders are starting to emerge. One of our 3 unbeatens fell by the wayside this week (even though a near 500-yard game by John Navarre almost did it) so now we are down to two left. No change at the top as the Monarchs now make it three 2006 playoff teams beaten in four games. Plus - KC exorcised a couple of jinxes by beating the X-men: one - they FINALLY beat a team on the road on the left coast for the first time in franchise history. And two - they get a week four win (also first time in team history). The Monarch D has become well rounded as well. Oh, and uh, just in case they were looking ahead to the Hitmen, the team that played giant-killer last week is waiting for them in Big D. How 'bout that Seneca Wallace? 2 games check this out: 42 - 65, 65% comp. 613 yards, 3 TD's, 0 picks, 110.6 rating and most important - 2 W's. Looks like Chizik and Applewhite are onto something. Meanwhile, much was made of the XFL East tilt between the Rage and the Colonels, but the Rage came out on top by just pummelling Carolina on the ground. C'mon 238 yards? That's just wrong. Lynch got another 98 and is now up to 424 for the season. I think it's safe to say Orlando will be in the mix for the rest of the year (Psst! they lead the league in points too!) while Carolina has some soul-searching to do. Nice to see Vegas back in th win column, so theirs a new tenant in the basement this week. Who? Let's find out shall we?.....
1. Kansas City (3-0): "The Royal 'Reckin' Crew" is now top 5 in every Rushing D category and they are tied for the league lead in INT's. I'd say that's pretty well rounded.
2. New York (3-0): Leak came up just short, but were his efforts a sign of things to come for NY?
3. Orlando (3-1): Rage doing this WITHOUT Copeland. Imagine what they'll be like with him?
4. Seattle (3-1): Win or lose, this was a GREAT game! Too bad the Reign only showed up after half time....
5. Dallas (2-2): Finally, to see a Wallace that leads with his play, not his mouth.
6. Memphis (2-2): looking for a reason for this funk? try getting outscored both in the first and fourth quarters this season.
7. Carolina (2-2): One of only 6 teams to score over 100 points this season (111), but they've given up the most as well (121)
8. Pittsburgh (2-2): 40 points, huh? methinks they read last week's poll, plus styming the Bolts sack machine (0 sacks allowed) raised some eybrows.
9. Washington (2-2): Kudos to Barber for a geat performance (160 yds., 2 TD's). If he keeps this up, maybe McPhearson won't throw so much.
10. Chicago (2-2): Shutting down Shelton diminished by lack of a 'Ax QB(paging Mr. Hendricks, paging Bart Hendricks, your team is still looking for you)
11. Jacksonville(1-3): Team showed chinks in Hitmen's armor, who will take advantage of it?
12. Las Vegas (1-3): Best thing to take from Sunday's win: Vegas D still dealing "craps" to all opponents (second fewest points given up)
13. Birmingham (1-3): back to back OT losses? Yeesh. Can't blame them for trying. They still have scored more (93) than they've given up (91).
14. Los Angeles (1-3): Hot seat is gettin' hotter for Toledo
15. San Francisco (1-3): Shaun King as a saviour? Things MUST be bad.
16. Detroit (1-3): Picked 4 times (yuch), sacked 4 times (ugh), hurried 4 times (groan). Maybe the problem isn't the QB, (cough, cough 'O-line cough, cough)
