The second half of the season has begun, and the 3 titans at the top continue to keep pace with each other. All three have a legitimate claim to the throne but only one can hold it. NY and KC continue to dominate but Orlando just keeps finding ways to win, now at 6 in a row. Chicago made a valiant last stand, but Omar Jacobs went 0-4 on their final drive which ended on the Chicago 44. Dallas won, Memphis lost, so both teams are now at 4-3. We may be seeing the end of the Jason Gesser era in Vegas as BOTH TD's were scored by the defense in a 26 20 loss to the Bulls in the "Toilet Bowl" game. However, THE best games of the week was turned in by 2 3-4 squads and 2 teams trying to stay afloat (sorry Reign, Glory) as Detroit hung on to knock off San Fran, 28 - 25. This game went back and forth, and wasn't decided until the Mustangs intercepted an Andrew Walter pass at the Demons' 22 to seal the game. Speaking of Seattle and DC, the Reign are doing everything possible to keep their division close as they fell to the Glory, 20 -18. We'll keep an eye on the XFL West, cause if Seattle loses and LA wins, we'll have a tie at the top. But what does it say about a division when the leader sits at .500? Oh well, on to the rankings for this week.....
1. Kansas City (6-1): LenDale is finally justifying that number one overall draft pick slot.
2. Orlando (6-1): Look I know they have the league's best running game, but when your QB can't get over the 150 mark 3 games in a row, you gotta wonder.
3. New York (6-1): Purify is doing all he can to keep prized rookie Bush in the bench.Plus Hitmen D is still holding it down.
4. Dallas (4-3): Wallace keeping the LoneStars in the thick of things.
5. Washington (4-3): The good.....and ugly - McPhearson's 15 TD's lead the league, too bad his 16 INT's does too.
6. Carolina (4-3): Will the real Colonels team stand up?
7. Memphis (4-3): They hung in there with the Hitmen, even though the score doesn't show it.
8. Seattle (4-3): Lack of a running game continues to doom Reign.
9. San Francisco (3-4): Walter just isn't getting it done for the Demons, period.
10. Los Angeles (3-4): As bad as they have played at times, they are right in the thick of things.
11. Chicago (3-4): Valiant effort doesn't excuse getting pummeled for 322 yards on the ground.
12. Detroit (3-4): McDonald and Gage really respond when Kegel plays, don't they? Still giving up way too many yards on D.
13. Pittsburgh (2-5): DeAngelo is fading fast from the rushing title hunt.
14. Jacksonville (2-5): 280 yards, 70 comp.%, 2 TD's - not bad for a debut, Mr Palko.
15. Las Vegas (1-6): Criner needs to look to his staff, something has to change after this season.
16. Birmingham (1-6): 505 yards given up, 0 sacks. 'Nuff said.
