Here we are after 8 weeks and once again we have a shake-up near the top of the rankings. Orlando's six-game win-streak? Gone. The Maniax played their best game of the season as they knocked off the Rage in Memphis, 28 -13. Last week, the Rage rolled up 322 yards on the ground. This week? Only 138. ROY candidate Marshawn Lynch was held to 81 yards on 12 carries and no TD's. People seem to forget that although the 'AX are only 5 - 3, they boast the league's 5th best total defense and the 4th ranked scoring D. Between them and Dallas, don't be too shocked if both make the playoffs as wildcards. You could make the argument that the XFL South is the league's best division. KC is tied for the best record at 7-1, and Dallas and Memphis sit at 5-3. Birmingham? Well, let's just say the Bolts are a work in process. Confession. I thought LA would make a charge and SF would stumble, now it looks like the Demons are showing life and the X-men are struggling. Meanwhie, very quietly, the Hitmen can wrap up their division with a win this weekend over the Mustangs who are still smarting after the beating KC gave them. Ouch. After this weekend's action, we will hit the home stretch people. Time to separate the men from the boys. On to the rankings this week....
1. Kansas City (7-1): Despite playing musical chairs with the O-line, team hasn't given up a sack in 2+ games.
2. New York (7-1): They better hope the injury to Hamilton isn't long-term, 'cause he's the leading passer AND rusher.
3. Orlando (6-2): Stanton did get over the 150 mark, but they are going to need much more of him if they plan to make noise in the playoffs.
4. Memphis (5-3): This was around the time last year they made their late-season run. Could we see a repeat?
5. Seattle (5-3): Navarre is steadly moving up the rankings at QB. But inconsistency is keeping the division close.
6. Dallas (5-3): If they want any shot at winning the division, they must beat KC in Arrowhead. Good Luck.
7. San Francisco (4-4): O-line issues (10 sacks given up vs. Bolts) are gonna hurt them as the season winds down.
8. Washington (4-4): McPhearson is starting to reach (dare I say it?) Tampa Bay Testaverde status (20 INT's)
9. Carolina (4-4): Doing the mediocre two-step again.
10. Jacksonville (3-5): Two Palko starts, 2 W's. I bet the coach is wondering," Why didn't I start him sooner?"
11. Los Angeles (3-5): Even at 3-5, they are not out it yet. and still have the Reign coming to the Coliseum on the final day.
12. Chicago (3-5): Harrington era off to a bad start, held to only 2 field goals.
13. Detroit (3-5): Gage missing games means Wilson better step up now.
14. Las Vegas (2-6): 41 points. Kudos, But is Derek Anderson really the best option at QB?
15. Pittsburgh (2-6): They keep playing just well enough to lose.
16. Birmingham (1-7): This may the best news out of Birmingham, "With the first pick of the 200b XFL drft, The Bolts select.....
