NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Las Vegas Outlaws defensive tackle Rien Long was in critical condition Tuesday night after he crashed his sports car into a rock wall while driving onto an interstate.
Nashville police said Long, 26, was driving too fast down an on-ramp to Interstate 40 near downtown just before midnight Monday.
His 2005 Ford Mustang started sliding at the bottom of the ramp, went up the embankment and hit a rock wall on the driver's side before rolling over onto the roof.
Long was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Police said he was in critical condition, but hospital officials declined to give details on his condition Tuesday night.
A passenger, 28-year-old Wesley Stephens, was treated for non-critical injuries.
Long won the Outland Trophy and was an All-American as a junior at Washington State in 2002. He was drafted by the Outlaws in 2003 and is considered one of, if not the, best DT in the XFL. Several Outlaws officials were on their to Tennessee to visit Long at the hospital Monday night.
"We would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to Rien and his family during this difficult time," the team said in a statement.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) - Chicago Enforcers linebacker Channing Crowder crashed his pickup truck into a tree alongside Florida's Turnpike on Wednesday and left the scene of the early morning collision, authorities said.
Crowder, 24, said he lost control of his 2007 Dodge truck on an exit ramp at about 5:30 a.m., then found a ride to his Davie home, according to a statement from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Crowder was cited for careless driving and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage — a second-degree misdemeanor. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.
"He's fine. We have reached out to him, I think he's fine," Enforcers general manager Brendan Rosenberg said on a video posted on the team's Web site.
Crowder had just nine tackles in 2007 after losing his job to first-round pick Patrick Willis. The Enforcers shifted him to OLB, where he is slated to compete with Rocky McIntosh for the starting job. What effect this will have on the future of the former UF star--who has been dangled as trade bait off and on for the last two years--remains to be seen.
Authorities retrieved Crowder's belongings, including a firearm, from the truck and held the vehicle for the former University of Florida standout, according to the statement.
