Which team has been the most surprising so far?

Would you have Memphis and Carolina on there for surprisingly bad? Disappointment would be more appropo in that case. The defending champs would actually qualify more as a surprise considering the whole Joe Hamilton debacle and that Michael Bush is barely averaging 3.5 YPC. Most XFL observers thought that Memphis was headed for a fall real quick, with Eric Shelton going the way of Shaun Alexander, the loss of their best offensive lineman (Artis Hicks), and new ownership putting everybody on notice like they'd just finished 4-8 for the last three years running (which started with the oddball firing of DC Mike Roach). Not to mention the team's questionable-at-best draft last month. Positively for them, Gerald Riggs finally looks like a decent XFL running back (after busting in SF), and Omar Gaither is one hell of a player (they better re-sign him, since that was the basis for letting D.D. Acholonu roll). Carolina would be the, ahem, runaway choice. To their credit, they have played a pretty tough schedule to date, with Orlando and Pittsburgh both at 4-1 and Dallas looking good if Seneca Wallace's on point. But Ricky Ray has been lousy, and the D has looked good at times, but hasn't been strong enough to hold up. Also with the O-town rematch plus KC and BIR on tap in the second half that first winning season, which you'd need to go 6-1 to begin with, is not looking good. This without even mentioning the heightened expectations of the Mike Martz era, which started out great with a last-minute win over JAC in week one but have gone south, deep south. Birmingham was a fourth-and-goal away from knocking off undefeated KC, and PIT has shown that they're for real when they held Maurice Jones-Drew to 54 yards and held the Xtreme offense to a crawl for three quarters. Coincidentally all four teams face off with each other this week (BIR/PIT, MEM/CAR). Good plug

Yeah, I guess I should clarify that Memphis and Carolina are surprising in that some thought they would be better than 1-4.
Just trying to get some talking going. Seems dead around here.

Yes, but as I've learned from the SFL boards, that isn't necessarily a bad thing

Not always as dead as you'd think.
