DISCLAIMER: XFL4EVER IS A SIMULATED FOOTBALL LEAGUE, NOT AN ACTUAL ONE (UNFORTUNATELY). SO ALL THE EVENTS OF THE LEAGUE ARE FICTIONAL. OF COURSE IT WOULD BE PRETTY NEAT IF THEY WERE REAL. The XFL ”Saturday Night Riot” shows on Saturday evenings on USA Network at 7:30pm….

Liam: Hi, everyone, I'm Liam McHugh, joined by Tiki Barber and Coach Marvin Lewis along with special reporter Kathryn Tappen and welcome to Saturday Night Riot on the USA Network. It’s week 2 of the 2019 XFL, and fellas, we have lots to talk about. Coach, Tiki, week 1 is in the books, so what can we look for this week?
Tiki: First off, let me start by saying welcome back Carolina! Mike Mularkey gets a win in his Carolina debut. For a team that hadn’t played since the ’11 season, they looked good in their victory against Pittsburgh. Now we got an interesting sideplot in tonight’s Monarchs-Colonels game. Navarro Bowman was exposed in the expansion draft, got cut by Carolina, and now, thanks to a season–ending injury to Kwon Alexander, will START at linebacker against the Colonels. Funny how life works, huh?
Marvin: I'm looking at the new faces from the draft, guys like Da’Shawn Hand, Ian Thomas, Jalyn Holmes, and KeKe Coutee. These guys had decent pre-seasons, but now it’s go time. By the way, how about that Orlando - Chicago game last week? No running game to speak of, and rumor has it that Claussen is gonna hang it up after this season. Don’t look now, but there might be some chinks in the three-time defending champs armor.
Liam: Thanks guys. And we will be taking a look at tonight's action featuring the XFL Western Division champion Kansas City Monarchs and the Colonels from Carolina, plus news from around the league. Katheryn has an interview with Lonestar QB Dak Prescott plus previews of Sunday's games. We’ll be right back after a word from our sponsor. This is Saturday Night Riot on USA.

Liam: Hi everyone and welcome back to Saturday Night Riot on USA. Dak Prescott seemingly came out of nowhere to take over the reins of the LoneStars two years ago. But some are wondering with his up-and-down play since then should he considered an elite quarterback. Recently, Katheryn Tapper sat down…. with Dak.
Katheryn: Thanks, guys. So Dak, let’s cut right to the chase. Do you consider yourself an elite quarterback?
Prescott: I do,……I'll always see myself as an elite quarterback and I know I'll get back to playing that way very soon. Season just started.
Katheryn: So what do you say to those who continue to doubt you?
Dak: We'll put in all the work that we need to do. We'll get to where exactly we want to be and need to be. The sun will rise again.
Liam: Thanks Katheryn. Not surprisingly, a spirited argument broke out on our XFL Season Kickoff show on NBCSN last Saturday afternoon, among analysts Jericho Copeland, Richard Marshall, Marcus Vick, Rex Ryan and Dan Patrick. Here’s a recap…..
Patrick: So, are the Lonestars' struggles a largely a 'Dak problem?'
Copeland and Vick: yes.
Marshall and Ryan: Nahhhhhh
Patrick: Listen, Dak Prescott comes into the league, has a great year. Everything works perfectly. Nobody's got film on him. But if you put pen-to-paper, I did this about a week ago, and you start writing down quarterbacks. You get to about 7 and you have Chad Henne and Dak’s not Henne. And he's not Keenum or Clausen…….And you're looking at about the 7th-best quarterback in the league, with no great perimeter weapons. And I know, . . . .(panel laughs) Oh, I know, he looked so good that first but, folks, nobody had film on him. This is a quarterback out of college that everybody in the league passed on twice. The things I like about him are intangibles, but arm talent? It's just not there.
Ryan: "What do you mean no one had film on him? The guy did play in college, right? He didn't play 8-man football. They've got film on him."
Patrick: "You're a defensive guy. Is there fear with him? Do you watch that arm and go, 'Whoa!' "
Ryan: "You take him and put him on Orlando's team right now. He can make accurate throws, he's proven he can make good decisions . . . .
Marshall: "I'll tell you what: He feared me when we were playing the Hitmen, when he hit that long bomb. George Kittle. Big throw, big time. But he definitely needs more help
Vick: "As far as passing concepts, look, we know they can't turn and hand the ball off to Kelley. They have to find some type of way to get creative to get Allen Hurns involved, to get Harris involved, stretch the field. There's no dynamic plays. Everything looks the same. It looks boring."
Gonzalez: " The locker room was saying, 'Just put on the tape. Don't say that we're a bad receiving corps.' Guys said last year, 'Don't say I've lost a step. Put on the tape. I'm getting open; he's just not hitting me.' And I think that is the big Question.
Liam: We’ll be right after a word from our sponsor. This is Saturday night Riot on USA.

Liam: Hi everyone and welcome back to Saturday Night Riot on USA. I’m Liam McHugh in the studio with Tiki Barber, and Coach Marvin Lewis. We'll start off with news from around the league with XFL Livewire. Antonio Brown’s problems continue both on AND off the field…..He has been found guilty and fined for a speeding incident along McKnight Road in November. A judge found Brown guilty of reckless driving at a hearing Tuesday morning. After failing to show up in court, he has been ordered to pay a fine. Brown was cited after being pulled over for driving in excess of 100 mph in a 45 mph zone on McKnight Road in Ross Township back on Nov. 8, 2018. Brown has 30 days to appeal his conviction or accept the fine. Add that to the recent lawsuit in Florida by the father of a toddler who claims his son suffered emotional distress when Brown threw furniture off a balcony on the 14th floor of a building, plus Brown filing for custody of his daughter in the aftermath of the girl’s mother accusing Brown of domestic violence, and Tuesday, he tweets about requesting a trade out of the “Burgh”. Honestly it would not surprise me if Brown did not see the field at all this season.
Tiki: Also, in the news, the Hitmen have placed WR A.J. Green on injured reserve because of a nagging toe injury, the team announced this past Wednesday. The wide receiver originally suffered the injury to his right big toe in Week 1 against the Monarchs. NBCSN reported Monday that Green will undergo surgery to repair torn ligaments in the toe. Green is expected to be sidelined three to four months as he recovers, though the Hitmen expect to have him back and ready for OTAs, the report says.
Liam: And that's Livewire for this week…..we’ll be back.
((Saturday Night Riot Fade out, cut to commercial))
Liam: Welcome back. It’s week 2 of the season and we’ll get right to some of this weekend’s games, so Coach? Start us off – Los Angeles at San Francisco.
Marvin: The Demons have a home game for the first time in 7 years. Barkley didn’t look too bad, but guys …..this is an EXPANSION TEAM. For most teams, your defense gels faster than your offense anyway, moreso if you are just coming back as an organization. What the Demons DO have going for them is the fact that they held San Antonio scoreless in the 4th quarter. What cost them was the fact that they couldn’t get a 3rd down stop when they needed to. Liam, Barkley is good enough to win, but they NEED to run the run the ball better. Constantly digging out of double-digit deficits is no recipe for success. As for LA, they played well enough to win, but they missed a field goal at the gun to allow the game to go to overtime. They allowed Vegas to torch them passing-wise, but I don’t think Barkley is good enough to take advantage of that fact. I’m looking at Cook, Callaway and Garcon to light it up in this game - LA 34 – San Fran 17.
Tiki: The game I want to focus on involves the other returning franchise. KC at Carolina tonight…..Kevin Hogan answered the bell last week in the win against Pittsburgh, but now he’s stepping up in weight class in facing the Monarchs. What he has going for him is the fact that James White, Ian Thomas, Greg Olsen and Aldrick Robinson make for a VERY formidable passing combination. However, when you look at KC, they have a retooled passing attack of their own….. Duke Williams and Derel Walker came from the CFL, while Brice Butler and Kelvin Benjamin were in the NFL. On paper, we could be looking at a shootout tonight. My question is, can Kansas City with their new 4-2-5 defense stand up to this? I say they will……final score, KC in a shootout, 35 -31.
Liam: That’s all the time we have for this week, folks. This is Liam McHugh with Tiki Barber, Marvin Lewis, and Katheryn Tapper. From all of us in the studio to all of you at home, enjoy the games everybody. Don't forget the wrap-up show. This has been the XFL Saturday Night Riot on the USA Network.
