Hitmen 35 Stallions 14 (East Rutherford, NJ)
J.K. Dobbins led a 173-yard ground effort and the defense harassed Brian Hoyer into his worst game as a Stallion, sacking him four times (including one for a safety) and picking him off twice as the Hitmen rolled to their third straight win to keep atop the XFL East
Graham Gano kicked four field goals and Taylor Heinicke threw a touchdown pass to Charone Peake as the Hitmen built up a 19-7 third quarter lead. St. Louis got to within five in a Jonathan Taylor touchdown towards the end of third quarter, but the Stallions wouldn't get out their own territory the rest of the game while the Hitmen got touchdown runs from Dobbins and Gus Edwards before a sack by Alton Robinson for a safety to end the scoring
In the showdown of the top two backs taken in the draft, both ran the ball well with Dobbins going for 99 yards on 23 carries and Taylor 98 on 13, with both scoring--although Taylor fumbled for the fifth time this year (fourth as a runner). But it was the Hitmen defense leading the way with two sacks by Kingsley Keke and interceptions each for Levi Wallace and Ricardo Allen
The Stallions go into their bye week under .500
NEXT WEEK: NY (5-2) at CHI 4/4; STL (3-4) bye (vs ORL 4/8)
