Enforcers 35 Stampede 23
CHICAGO, IL--James White rushed for four touchdowns and Gardner Minshew threw a touchdown pass as the Enforcers rushed for 251 yards in an easy week one win over the Stampede at Soldier Field Saturday.
White scored Chicago's first three touchdowns on runs of 4, 43, and 1 as the Enforcers led 28-13 at the half. The opening day crowd of over 40,000 wasn't real thrilled with Rex Ryan's decision to punt on 4th and 1 on the opening series, but it paid off as Jake Bailey pinned San Antonio at the 3, and after a three-and-out the Enforcers took the ball back and went 55 yards in seven plays for White's first touchdown. Jalen Hurts took the Stampede 75 yards in ten plays for the tying score, a 13-yard pass to Collin Johnson. But the Enforcers pushed the lead to 21-10 on two White runs while the Stampede could only muster a 52-yard Jason Sanders field goal.
An interception by Adrian Amos late in the first half, the game's only turnover, set up a quick drive that ended up in a Minshew scoring pass to Quintez Cephus. The Stampede never got any closer than the final margin as Miles Sanders took a pass from Hurts in the fourth quarter and went 60 yards for the score became the with Hurts adding the two-point conversion.
White became the first Enforcer since Jordan Howard in 2018 to rush for four touchdowns, Howard did it in a 44-41 overtime win over Washington.
