Rage 23 Stallions 21
ORLANDO, FL--Elliott Fry kicked the go-ahead field goal with 4:42 left and damnien Harris, who was also the game's leading rusher with 97 yards and a touchdown, took a pass from Brad Kaaya and ran 44 yards with it ti clinch the game as the Orlando Rage won their second straight with a win over the St. Louis Stallions at Camping World Stadium Saturday.
Kaaya bounced back after a pair of shaky outings to begin the season, going 19 of 27 for 246 yards and a touchdown and was helped by his defense, who picked Brian Hoyer off three times and also stopped St. Louis on a fourth and 5 from the Orlando 6 late in the second quarter.
Fry hit pair from 50 and beyond in the first half, but it accounted for all of Orlando's scoring as the Stallions hung around, and even after the fourth down misfire the Rage went three and out, giving the ball right back to the Stallions, where Brian Hoyer, despite no timeouts, led the Stallions down the field in five plays and into the lead for the first time on a 26-yard pass to Devin Duvernay.
On third and 9, Hoyer was pressured by Da'Shawn Hand and threw an interception to Shaun Wade, and then it was Kris Richard's turn to gamble. This time it worked as Kaaya hit Lynn Bowden for 24 yards on fourth and 6 from the St. Louis 29, and on the next play Kaaya went to Ray Ray McCloud for the touchdown. The teams traded touchdowns to continue the back-and-forth as Jeremy McDaniels' one-yard plunge put St. Louis back on top at 14-13, only for a 14-yard Harris jaunt to give Orlando the lead back at 20-14.
Jonathan Taylor, who rushed for 91 yards and caught seven passes for 72 yards, caught an 18-yard pass from Hoyer to give the Stallions their last lead at 21-20. After Fry's go-ahead field goal, the Stallions were forced to punt after Hoyer was sacked by Hand. On Orlando's game-sealing series, Harris picked up a first down, and then the final one on the big 44-yard play to end it.
The Stallions, starting their third different pair of offensive tackles due to injuries, only gave up the one sack. Veteran Joe Haeg, who just signed earlier in the week, started at right tackle. The win gives the Rage their first consecutive wins since they started 3-1 last year.
