Injuries
Preseason injuries
Obviously since the league isn't in even so much as minicamps it would be kind of self-defeating (not to mention turning potential owners away) by declaring every player in the league who suffers a season-ending preseason injury as out for the year months out (Obviously more real situations, yes). Therefore, each player who suffers a season-ending injury will not necessarily be out for the year but their "durability portal" will be as low as possible.
Yes, the sim has a durability of 0. However, accounting for the different timeframes it will be adjusted to a 1- for preseason. This year the 'minus' designation is used to increase the likelihood of said player missing time.
In-season injuries
These will be navigated a bit differently. If the player already has a lower durability rating (up to 6) that would reflect time missed then those won't be affected. If they have high/relatively high durability ratings those will be. Those will be determined at the end of the NFL regular season.
Postseason injuries
For simplicity, it will be the reverse of preseason injuries, only this time counting against his durability (meaning a 10 would be a 9, 9 to 8, and so on).
Retirements
Players have different reasons for retiring, and thus timeframes are different. Players who retired at the onset of training camps in 2023 (John Ross, Justin Jackson) will be reflected in the XFL as well too. Player retirements upon the conclusion of the 2023 NFL season may be handled the same way as well on a case-by-case basis, similar to how one would happen if it were six months earlier (A.J. Green).
Those who retire IRL during the XFL season will be "retired" after the season (Chad Henne, Donte Deayon, Nasir Adderley)
